Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association (FACSTA) is a membership based Association located in the State of Georgia.  Members are current teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences on the middle school, high school and post high school level.  Associate members are retired teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences and individuals who believe in and support Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS).

FACSTA’s vision is that Family and Consumer Sciences be recognized as a premier educational program in the State of Georgia.  Based on this vision, the mission of FACSTA is to promote Family and Consumer Sciences Education in Georgia through publicity, communication, professional representation and legislative initiatives.

One of the most important skills promoted and taught by FACSTA members is Family Life Skills.  These are skills, attitudes, values, and understanding that enable students to become responsible, contributing members of the community allowing them to achieve an optimum quality of life for themselves and their families.  These skills include decision making, problem solving, communication, self sufficiency, time management, money management, job skills and leadership skills.

FACSTA’s goals focus on several key issues.  These are:

Regular membership dues are $100 for active FCS teachers.  Associate membership dues of $50 are for retired teachers of FCS and those individuals who support Family and Consumer Sciences.  Dues are payable once each year by check or by a once-a-month bank deduction.

The Association is governed by an elected Board of Directors that meets four times a year.  The Association office is located at 1217 Eagle Ridge Road, Dawsonville, Georgia  30534.  They may be reached by phone at (706) 265-4455 and by Fax at (706) 265-6090.
